Mika Mannonen

Entrepreneur and hiking guide Mika Mannonen has been working as a guide and outdoor instructor since 2017. Mika has shared unforgettable moments in the unique wilderness of the Nordic countries with thousands of clients, and now he invites you to experience it for yourself.

For me, the most important thing on hikes is a relaxed and attentive presence. I prioritize safety and truly experiencing nature. We don’t hike just for the sake of achievement — we hike to be present and to experience. I have extensive experience working with people and know how to give each participant their own space. My goal is for you to have the most memorable experience possible. I make sure we have the right gear, adequate safety equipment, and a sensible plan. You can always ask for tips and advice in advance.

My own outdoor background goes back to the 1980s, including trips to Lapland with my father, brother, and grandparents. At the turn of the 2000s, my passion for hiking was reignited. In 2005, I hiked to Halti with my wife and started managing various hiking-related websites. By 2010, I realized that hiking was my true calling — my mission! Over the years, I have hiked across the Nordic countries, Europe, and Nepal. In 2017, I began studies as a wilderness and nature guide at Sakky in Northern Savonia and founded the Ulkoilma Outdoor Academy. The Academy helped structure guided hikes and courses, creating low-threshold services for beginner hikers. During my time there, we guided over 3,000 people across tens of thousands of kilometers! I stepped away from the Ulkoilma Outdoor Academy in the fall of 2023 (the operations continue under a new owner). In 2025, I became a Partioaitta 365 Club Guide and founded the Wild Nature service.

Hiking remains a personal passion. Today, I mostly hike alone or with my son. I also create content under the name Forest Beard (Metsänparta) on Youtube, and Instagram.
